What is a tide?

Tidal is a premium music streaming service. It was launched in 2014 but did not reach its peak until 2015. It worked directly with musicians, focusing exclusively on artists, offering high pay rates, and developing unique content.

In fact, Tidal co-owns J-Id, Beyonc,, Rihanna, Jack White, Madonna, Daft Punk and several other artists. These small sections show behind-the-scenes videos, original album releases and live streams of concerts.

The streaming service has two separate plans: Tidal Primium and Tidal HiFi. The first is similar to Spotify and other platforms, with 60+ million songs available for 320kbps via AAC for a monthly fee.

Tidal HiFi was launched in 2017, targeting listeners with a high standard for music quality. It’s more expensive, but it does offer master quality verified music files at 96kHz / 24bit for some (but not all) of its content. Whether you want it or not is another matter but no other music streaming service offers this.

How do you use tidal?

Tidal has a simple and easy-to-use interface based on its mobile application, desktop application, and browser-based version of web player. Launch the application to a Home Feature content and section showing the music you have recently played. Scroll down to see recommended tracks, concise playlists, and more.

The next part, is called Explore Where you go to find new artists and songs. You can explore the artist, genre, playlists, moods, activities and much more. One of the best features here is Tide Part, it’s a good way to find emerging artists from different countries around the world.

Other than that you have Search and My collection Areas that are somewhat self-explanatory. Although you can download tracks for offline play, please note that my collection does not allow you to upload your own music.

Once you’ve selected a song, you can put it on another device, add it to a playlist, share it, and much more. There is also a song credit option, which is stronger than most other platforms. It’s a better way to find similar music by the producer or composer than the artist. Often, this is the best way to find the music that best suits your taste.

Is the tide worth it?

Commitment to a single music subscription service can be difficult, but Tidal is located on your mobile device or computer. While it may not have the same user base as the big players in the industry, it does fit them in other ways.

First of all, the catalog of 60+ million songs has anything you need to listen to. Thanks to strong ties with artists, Tidal may be the only place to listen to new albums by big names like Jay-Ed and Beyonc.

Experience using the app and discovering new music is also possible thanks to Healed Playlists, Enhanced Running Credit Pages, and Tide Raising Highlights. The only notable exceptions are podcasts (although there were a few booming original podcasts) and some social features.

That said, tidal hifi can be priced at around $ 20 a month. While it may not be unfair for you to consider gaining access to extremely high quality audio, the price shock will not be able to outweigh most casual listeners.

The tidal premium is just over $ 10 a month. This is the same price as Spotify and Apple Music, making it a great option. Regardless of your flow needs, a 30-day free trial of both plans is worth a try.

How much is the tide?

Tidal has several different subscription plans, which fall into two main categories: Tidal Primium and Tidal Hifi. Each of these subscriptions is billed every 30 days, not every month, which means it can be billed twice a month (or not in February).

The Tidal Premium, which offers a standard streaming standard comparable to Spotify or Apple Music, costs $ 9.99 per single plan for 30 days. A family plan that includes up to five members in one account is also $ 14.99 for 30 days.

If you are a student, you can get a $ 4.99 discount for 30 days. Military members and first responders also receive a $ 5.99 discount for 30 days. Please note that these discounts are not available anywhere in the world.

For true audiophile quality, you need to get tidal hifi. This is twice the standard plan, $ 19.99 per person for 30 days and $ 29.99 for a family plan for 30 days. Students can still get a $ 9.99 discount for 30 days, while military members and first responders will be paid $ 11.99 for 30 days.

Here is a brief summary of those prices:

  • Tidal installment
    • Individual: $ 9.99
    • Family: $ 14.99
    • Student: $ 4.99
    • Military / First Respondent: $ 5.99
  • Tidal hifi
    • Individual: $ 19.99
    • Family: $ 29.99
    • Student: $ 9.99
    • Military / First Respondent: $ 11.99

While not a free service, there are several ways to get a free tidal subscription. The first is a 30-day free trial, available for tidal premiums and tidal hifi subscriptions. This is a good way to find out if the service is worth it to you before spending a penny.

If you are a T-Mobile subscriber, that free trial lasts up to three months. However, it is limited to the tidal installment and excludes the upper tier hifi program. If you like it, check out the best T-Mobile plans at the link below.

Tide options

Tidal may actually be one of the few music streaming services with high quality audio equipment, but that means there are no better options. We’ve put together three of its biggest competitors (which should come as no surprise) and you can make an informed decision before subscribing by comparing what they have to offer.

Note that none of the following options contain high quality audio, but there are a few minor services that can fill that space. be aware Amazon Music HD, Dieser, Or Qobuz if you need to have a high sound quality.

Spotify is a name that everyone should be familiar with at this point. It is the biggest name in the music stream and is easy to connect with with a plan that supports free advertising. If you want to get rid of ads, the pricing tide is $ 9.99 and offers discounts for students and families.

There are two main points that separate Spotify from other services. The first is podcast. Spotify has invested heavily in them, with Joe Rogan spending more than $ 100 million on the experience alone. It’s fast becoming one of the best places to listen to podcasts, and Tidal’s podcast offers are minimal.

Spotify exposes competitors with many social features. You can create collaborative playlists, share playlists, see what your friends are listening to, and much more. Learn more about what Spotify has to offer at the link below.

Apple Music

Apple Music is another leading music streaming service that is growing rapidly thanks to Apple’s attractive installation base. Like Tidal, it is for subscription only, the service provides several free internet radio stations 24 hours a day. There is a similar cost for paid plans, but there is no hifi plan.

Both of these services offer 60+ million songs, so you will have no problem finding something to listen to. While Apple Music allows you to play local music again (even on free plans), it’s good for those who have extensive libraries before the stream library era.

As part of Apple’s service kit, Apple Music has several additional privileges. It integrates with other Apple services such as iCloud so you can listen to your entire iTunes library from the cloud. It also includes the Apple One subscription, which is a great way to save money for those who invest in other services such as iCloud and Apple TV Plus.

YouTube Music

The last service we look at is YouTube Music. It replaced Google Play Music (for better or worse) earlier this year. There are tons of music out there, including blurry and hard to find blends that Spotify or Tidal don’t have.

Like YouTube, there is a free ad-supported plan that includes every song on stage. If you want to get rid of ads, pricing is equivalent to Tidal for $ 9.99 a month. However, it does include a YouTube premium subscription of $ 11.99 per month, which removes ads from YouTube videos.

If you watch a large amount of YouTube, this makes it a good alternative to other dedicated streaming services. You do not have to sacrifice much to upload, share and create playlists of your own music and much more. However, there is no option for local replay and no plans for high quality music.
