Google Duo is now available on Android TV, but it only half works

[ad_1]
Late last month, Google announced that the Duo would hit the big screen “in the coming weeks.” The video calling app is now available for Android TV – you can install it remotely from Google Play on the web or from the Play Store app on your device – but it is not yet fully functional.
I was able to download and run the Duo from my Shield TV, but this is not the full feature experience you might expect. First of all, there is no launch icon for Duo, so the only way to launch it is through the app list in the Android TV settings. Once you have passed the permissions as your contact list shows, I can make a call using my remote microphone, but my shield does not have a webcam attached so I only have voice.
The Duo app on Android TV is not yet able to receive calls. So even though you can install it and make calls, it is clearly not ready for prime time. Google will definitely fix this in a future update, so we need to be vigilant about that.
