Google discontinues its languishing Nest Secure alarm system

[ad_1]
- Google has suspended its Nest security system.
- The security hardware remained largely unchanged for three years.
- Other Nest devices can fill at least some gaps.
Nest Audio may be a success, but Google’s other smart home devices are not. Confirmed by Google Android Police The company suspended the sale of Nest Secure a week after it listed its official store alarm system as “no longer available”.
Google did not elaborate on why Nest Secure was suspended, but stressed that the product would continue to work for existing owners. The company did not say how long the system will remain active.

It is safe to say that the device never received (positive) attention. Google introduced Nest Secure in 2017, but the system remained largely unchanged, although revisions were made to other Nest products. The biggest surprise was that Google would later activate an unlisted microphone for the assistant when it raised privacy issues. No wonder Google suspended Nest Security, then – it didn’t play an important role in the company’s strategy.
This decision gives you less options for a smart security system, especially if you have invested heavily in Google technology. Current devices fill in some gaps. Cage security cameras still provide at least some protection. Nest Protect and Thermostat also provide motion sensor features. For better or worse there will never be a direct one like Nest Secure.
