Apple Watch Series 6: The best smartwatch overall
loans: Jimmy Westenberg / Android Authority
The Apple Watch Series 6 is the best smartwatch you can buy. It has unparalleled first- and third-party app support, gets regular major software updates, and integrates seamlessly with Apple’s messaging apps. A gold standard is what a smartwatch should be.
It is one aspect of fitness pursuit. Compared to other wrist-based heart rate sensors, the heart rate is unmatched and the GPS functionality is also robust. We think Apple’s new sleep tracking parameters are very basic, but you can always download a third party sleep tracking app if you want.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3: The best smartwatch for Android
loans: Jimmy Westenberg / Android Authority
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is the best smartwatch you can buy if you do not use an iPhone. The hardware is top notch, the rotating beard is useful and intelligent, the battery life is good, and it has a lot of fitness and health tracking features.
Samsung’s GPS and heart rate sensors may be disabled from time to time, and those coming from Wire OS or Apple Watch will be at a disadvantage due to the lack of third-party apps.

Fossil Gen 5: An old favorite
The TicWatch Pro 3 is considered the best Wear OS watch because of its hardware, but Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is still one of our favorites. Yes, it runs on the last General Qualcomm processor, but our unit has never slowed down. It’s still a solid smartwatch everywhere in 2020.
